School trip photos and privacy

When a whole class collects photos together, parents and teachers are right to be careful about privacy. Four facts up front:

1. **No account required.** Anyone with the link or QR code can upload photos directly — no sign-up, no app.

2. **PIN-protected access.** From the Spotlight plan onward, the album can additionally be protected with a PIN, so only someone with both the link AND the PIN gets in.

3. **Photos stored in the EU.** The photos are stored with our storage provider in its EU region (Frankfurt).

4. **Automatic deletion after expiry.** Once the runtime ends, photos, comments and reactions are permanently deleted after a grace period — nothing to clean up manually.

**Letter to parents**

At /school-trip you'll find a copy-paste text block for a letter to parents — a template, not legal advice. Check it against your school's own requirements before sending it.

**Setting a PIN**

You set the PIN in the album's settings and share it separately from the link, e.g. in person or on the parent letter.

**Hiding individual photos**

An unsuitable photo can be hidden at any time without deleting it — it disappears from view but is kept and can be shown again.

**Colleagues as helpers**

From the Spotlight plan onward you can invite a second teacher as a helper, and they can help review photos. Whether helpers are allowed to hide photos themselves is up to you, in the settings (“Helpers can hide photos”).
