Audio guestbook without a guestbook phone
With the EventDrop audio guestbook, guests leave a voice message directly in their browser. They scan the QR code and speak into their own phone. Uploading photos does not require a voice message.
How the audio guestbook works
Scan the QR code
The QR code opens the event’s upload page in the browser. No additional device is needed.
Record a voice message
Guests choose to start the microphone and record for up to 60 seconds. They can listen back or discard the recording before sending it.
Listen in the gallery
Hosts and invited co-admins listen to all messages in the gallery’s “Voice messages” section. The ZIP download includes them in the “Nachrichten” folder.
Phone guestbook or audio guestbook in the browser?
When looking for a wedding audio guestbook, many people consider a guestbook phone. EventDrop is a phone guestbook alternative in the browser: no extra device, no rental and no shipping. Guests use their own phones. Recording works in the browser, not in the store app.
Included in Premiere and Studio
The audio guestbook is included in Premiere and Studio. It is not included in Demo and Spotlight.
Audio guestbook questions
- Do guests need a guestbook phone or an app?
- No additional device is needed. Guests use their own phone to record on the upload page in the browser. There is no recorder in the store app.
- How long can a voice message be?
- Each recording lasts up to 60 seconds. Guests can listen back or discard it before sending. Recording is optional; photos can be uploaded without it.
- Who can listen to the voice messages?
- Only hosts and invited co-admins, in the gallery’s “Voice messages” section. Messages do not appear in the guest gallery, live photo wall, highlights or recap video.
- How can I download the messages?
- The ZIP download contains recordings in the “Nachrichten” folder. If cloud storage is enabled, they are also copied to Google Drive or Dropbox.
- Are voices analysed with AI?
- No. Voice messages are not analysed with AI, transcribed or used for voice or speaker recognition.
- Where are recordings stored and when are they deleted?
- Voice messages are stored in the EU with Supabase in Frankfurt. On EventDrop they are deleted with the event, no later than 30 days after expiry (except under an evidence-preservation hold). Copies you downloaded or copied to your own cloud account are not deleted.
- Can guests delete a message they have sent?
- No. Guests need to contact the event organiser. Hosts can delete individual voice messages while the event is running.
- Does the audio guestbook work on an iPhone?
- Yes, in current browsers. Depending on the browser, recordings use WebM or MP4. If a browser does not support recording, it is not offered; photos still work.
