When does the duration start — purchase or event date?
1 min read · Updated 09/09/2026Your event duration counts from the **later** of two dates: the day you created the event or bought the plan, and the event date you entered. So the expiry is: the later of purchase and event date, plus your plan duration.
**Best entered right away**
If the date is already in your event when you create it or buy a plan, the formula applies immediately — the gallery then closes a full plan duration AFTER your celebration, not after the day you paid.
**Date added later: a 14-day grace period**
If you add the date later via „Edit event“, we still move the expiry along — as long as your event is **less than 14 days old**. After that the expiry date stays put: the window had already been bought by then. It is never shortened — if your current expiry is already later (because you extended, for example), it stays as it is.
The grace period applies to paid plans only. On a demo event, adding the date later does not change the expiry date.
**If your event date falls after the expiry date**
An extension or an upgrade helps. An upgrade re-anchors the expiry to: the later of today and your event date, plus the duration of the new plan. An extension adds days to the existing expiry date. Current durations and prices are on the pricing page.
We send you a reminder email 48 hours before expiry.
