Review photos before publishing

1 min read · Updated 10/18/2026

Approval lets you review new guest photos before they appear in the gallery. You can turn it on in your event settings.

Turn on approval

  1. Open the event settings as the host or a co-admin.
  2. Under “Approval before publishing”, turn on “Approve photos before they are published”. Your change is saved immediately.

Approval is available on every plan. Before choosing files, guests see “Your photos appear after approval”. Their uploads are saved but stay hidden from the guest gallery until approved.

Review waiting photos

A queue above the gallery shows how many photos are waiting.

  • Choose “Approve” to make a photo visible to guests. You can also approve the currently displayed photos together.
  • Choose “Reject”, then “Reject and delete” to permanently remove a photo.

Hosts and co-admins can do both. Helpers can approve photos when “Helpers can hide photos” is enabled. They cannot reject photos or change the approval setting. See Invite co-admins for more about your team.

You cannot approve photos when an event has expired or is deactivated; hosts and co-admins can still reject them.

Turn off approval

The setting only affects new uploads. Photos already waiting stay in the queue, and visible photos remain visible.

To hide a photo that has already been published, use Hide photos. This is a separate function; approval does not change manually hidden photos.
